What are rotation pools, and do they stop a substitution?
Rotation pools let a coach tag each player with the parts of the field they can play — Forward, Mid and Back in soccer, hockey and AFL; Wing, Link and Middle in Oztag and touch; front row, back five and backs in rugby union; Centre Forward, Wing, Driver and Point in water polo; and Shooter, Midcourt and Defender in netball, where senior teams turn on rolling subs. Kickd then pairs each player coming on with the player coming off in the same group, so like replaces like. They never stop a substitution: fairness still decides who is due on, the tags only decide where that player lands, and if nobody on the bench covers the zone the rotation happens anyway with the mismatch flagged. Junior benches are too thin for a hard rule, and in rugby union the front-row call belongs to the coach and referee, not an app.
How do coaches give every player equal game time?

How does Kickd track substitutions?

Does game-time fairness carry across the season?
Yes. Minutes are recorded per player per match, and lineup auto-fill prioritises the players with the least total season game time — so a child who missed minutes one week catches up the next.
What are FR and DH vests in junior rugby league?
From 2026, NRL Junior Laws require First Receiver (FR) and Dummy Half (DH) vests in U8–U12 rugby league so those roles are shared around the team. Kickd tracks who wears each vest each period and shows vest-sharing fairness across the season.
Does fair game time apply to senior teams too?
Senior coaches see the same live minutes and rotation tools, but selection stays entirely the coach’s call — Kickd informs the decision without forcing it.
