Netball match day

Mark who's here, set the bibs for each quarter and tap Start Game. Kickd tracks every minute and every goal while you move players through the bibs. After the whistle, your players or parents vote.

Set up once, at home

About 10 minutes. Do it before game day.

  1. Create your team

Open Kickd and sign in. Tap Create Team, then enter the team name, the sport (Netball) and the age group off your rego. The age group sets your court size and quarter length for you.

  2. Add your players

Go to the TEAM tab at the bottom of the screen. Tap + Add Player. A name is all you need: netball runs on bibs, not shirt numbers, so players show by name and bib everywhere.

  3. Check the format

On the same TEAM tab, check the AGE GROUP: it locks after your first match. A COMMON TIMES chip (4×15, 4×10, 2×20) sets the format and time in one tap. Otherwise use FORMAT and the QUARTER TIME (or HALF TIME) chips.

The TEAM tab: FORMAT set to Quarters, COMMON TIMES with 4×12 picked, then the ROTATION and SUBS PER ROTATION rows
Tap 4×12 under COMMON TIMES and you get four 12-minute quarters.
  4. Invite parents and helpers

On the TEAM tab, tap Share Join Link under INVITE PARENTS/GUARDIANS (INVITE SUPPORTERS on an Opens team) and send it to your team chat. Parents follow the score live on their own phones. The link is for adults only.

Want a helper to run the clock and log the game? Tap Share PA Link under PERFORMANCE ANALYSTS. They join as your Performance Analyst and run the live screen while you coach.

Borrowing a player for the day? Tap + Add Guest Player. Guests play and get minutes but stay out of your season stats.

U6 to U9 play NetSetGO. Comps vary: periods can run 6 to 20 minutes, as halves or quarters.

Practice first. Not sure you're ready? On HOME, tap Start Practice Game: a pretend match on a sped-up clock. Nothing is saved and parents see nothing, so run as many as you like before game day.

Until your first match, HOME shows a BEFORE YOUR FIRST GAME checklist. Tap any line to go straight there. Your three free matches include every stat, so you can see what Team Stats adds before you choose a pass.

Before first centre

About 60 seconds court-side.

  1. Mark who's here

On the home screen, tap any player who didn't turn up to grey them out. Everyone else is in.

Type the other team's name under OPPONENT if you like. It shows on the live screen.

  2. Set your court

Tap Set Positions and fill the bibs for every quarter. Auto-fill fills every empty quarter for you. On Q2 to Q4, Copy starts the quarter from the one before (the button names it, such as Copy Q1). Tap Save & Back.

    U6 to U9 play NetSetGO 5-a-side. U10 and up play 7-a-side.

Set Positions: Q1 to Q4 tabs above the court, bibs filled with player names, 7/7 assigned and an Auto-fill button
Each quarter has its own tab, with Auto-fill beside the court.
  3. Tap Start Game

Kickd checks every quarter has a court set, and takes you to any that doesn't.

Then it asks who takes the first centre pass: tap Us or the other team, or Later to leave it.

On the court

The live screen, during play.

  1. Log your goals

Under the circle row, your GS and GA each have a + GOAL button. Tap the shooter's button and the goal is theirs. MISS beside it logs a missed shot, and their shooting % shows on their bib.

GS Sonya on 100% · 2/2 and GA Sara on 50% · 1/2, each with a + GOAL and a MISS button underneath
Each shooter has + GOAL and MISS, and their shooting % shows on the bib.
  2. Log their goals

Tap the other team's + GOAL cell on the court. It shows their name, or THEM.

  3. Follow the centre pass

The CP chip on the court shows who takes the next centre pass, US or THEM. It flips after every goal. Tap it any time to set or correct it.

The live court with minutes on each bib, a CP ▸ US chip on the right and the THEM + GOAL cell
CP ▸ US means your team takes the next centre pass.
  4. Swap players

Tap a player on the court (they turn amber), then tap a bench player to put them in that bib. Minutes update straight away.

Later quarters follow the swap: the player who came on takes the bibs the other player was planned for, unless you already planned them in that quarter.

  5. If a player can't go on

Long-press them and choose Mark Unavailable, then tap who takes their bib. For a no-show, choose Not Here - Mark Absent. It clears their minutes.

Either way they come out of the later quarters too, so check the next court at the break. Tap Mark Available when they're right to go back on.

  6. Fix a mistake

Tap Undo last on the court to reverse the last goal or stat. It shows what it will undo. On a tablet, tap Undo in the match log. Or say "undo".

Every player shows their minutes on court. Anyone getting too much court time turns amber, so the bench gets a fair go.

Bibs and breaks

Plan every quarter up front, adjust at the break.

Netball development is about time in every bib. Kickd sets your court quarter by quarter and shows live minutes, so no one sits in one bib too long.

Rotation alerts for senior teams

Junior netball swaps players at the breaks, so there are no timed alerts. A senior team (U13 and up) that plays rolling subs can turn on ROLLING SUBS on the TEAM tab, and Kickd calls each rotation for you.

Stats you can log

Tap the stat, tap the player. Stats are optional.

On a phone, tap the round stats button at the bottom left, pick a stat, then tap the player on the court. A team stat such as Centre Pass Received logs straight away.

Faster on a tablet

On a tablet the whole game fits one screen: the court, the bench and a stat sidebar down the side. Tap the stat, tap the player, and a green message confirms it.

The sidebar is always there, so every stat is one tap away. You can sub, swap bibs and log stats on one screen, and the shooting table and centre pass line wait at every break. The phone does the same job.

Full time

No rush at the huddle.

End the game and pick your player

  1. At full time, tap End Game at the top of the screen. The match ends straight away.

  2. Pick your Player of the Match on the results screen when you've got a moment. You've got an hour after the whistle, and Kickd sends a reminder if you haven't picked.

Carnival days, no signal

Back-to-back games, no reception.

  1. Plan every game before the day

On the positions screen, tap + Add game. Each game gets its own bibs and opponent. Long-press a game to remove it. Plans are saved on this device.

  2. Load the next game

After each End Game, the home button becomes Load Next Game. Your next plan drops in ready, then tap Start Game at the whistle.

  3. Share the minutes across the day

Auto-fill counts every game already played, today's included. Leave a later game's bibs empty and auto-fill it between games, and the players who sat out early get first look.

Call it in by voice

Kickd Callout comes with every pass, at every age.

  1. Pick your mic

On HOME, tap Bluetooth headset or Phone mic (Tablet mic on a tablet). A headset with a boom mic holds up in crowd noise. The phone or tablet mic suits training or a quiet ground, and you tap the mic button each time you want it to listen.

Home: Which mic for this game? Bluetooth headset or Phone mic
Pick the mic on HOME before the game.
  2. Arm the mic

If you picked a mic on HOME, it arms itself at the start of play. Otherwise tap the mic button in the top bar. Red means it's logging what it hears, and the bar shows what it heard and what it logged.

  3. Mute when you step away

Tap the mic again to mute for sideline chats or stoppages. On the phone or tablet mic, press and hold to mute. Nothing logs while it's muted. The mic stays armed through the break and switches off at full time.

Which headset

A Bluetooth headset keeps you hands-free, with your eyes on the game, so one person can log the whole match by voice. Most Bluetooth headsets work, and coaches have even used smart glasses, but results vary with noise cancelling. The Shokz OpenComm 2 boom mic is the best tested on a noisy sideline.

Mix taps and voice freely. Undo fixes either.

Voice comes with every pass. On Team Pass you call the goals for both teams, pause and resume, undo, and rotate now when rolling subs are on. On Team Stats every call on this page as well. Calls marked Team Stats need Team Stats. Junior teams hear a shorter list: only the stats their age group logs. Goals and the controls work at every age.
